My Approach
I am an integrative counsellor, which means that my training included approaches from various modalities of therapy. What might this look like?
A breakdown of some jargon and techniques I use: CBT (how thoughts affect behaviour) Psychodynamic (looking back at the past and making links to the present) Humanistic (focusing on empathy, self-awareness and your own capacity for healing/growth) and Relational (the belief that relationships are central to our experience as humans).
I get to know my clients, and based on what they bring I choose whatever approach I feel is appropriate for them. I am an accredited member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS) and adhere to their ethical guidelines.
As someone who values the arts and creativity as a way to nurture myself, I offer this to my clients. Drawing, painting and writing poetry can be so therapeutic and can open up emotions that are difficult to access through more traditional talking therapy. This is of course optional, not mandatory, and the space is yours to use as you need.

Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness
- Desmond Tutu
The first thing I work on in therapy is building a trusting relationship with you. Without this trust, people tend not to feel safe and this makes progress and change difficult.
My room is a place where you can set down your burdens, share your problems and be met with acceptance and empathy. The world is full of judgement, and critical voices often drown out the positive ones.
Therapy with me is a chance to feel refreshed, renewed and ready to face the world. Hope is what makes us keep trying, and I believe that finding joy is possible.
